Program

We’ll meet on Saturday, April 10 in the early afternoon. This first day will begin with a 2-hour Iyengar yoga practice, before we gradually settle into the retreat rhythm.

The following days will be organized around various times for practice, exploration, rest, and free time.

On the departure day, Thursday, April 15, there will be a guided practice followed by a closing session for the retreat. Lunch will be served early enough to allow everyone to leave with a full stomach.

Morning

The day will start with a period dedicated to meditation, followed by a 2-hour Mysore-style Ashtanga practice.
Very different from a guided class, Mysore sessions allow each person to practice the Ashtanga series at their own pace. We will be there to advise you, answer your questions, and support you individually. Of course, it is not necessary to practice for the full two hours: everyone is free to evolve according to their experience, energy, and possibilities in the moment.
If you are not yet familiar with the Mysore style, a guided session will be offered and we will support beginners in this discovery.
About one hour will then be devoted to yoga philosophy: exploration of certain texts and concepts, followed by a time for discussion and questions.

Afternoon

After a digestive break, we will gather for a 2h30 Iyengar yoga session, alternating different areas of focus.
One part will be dedicated to alignment and understanding the actions within the postures, in order to progress in your approach to them, through observation and listening to inner sensations.
Another part will be more focused on the restorative and introspective aspect of the method, inviting you to slow down and connect to Prana.

a diffrent day

In the middle of the retreat, this slightly special day will offer a break in the retreat routine: a walk will be proposed in place of the time usually devoted to philosophy, to connect with the beautiful and intense nature around Caldera. The Iyengar practice will be replaced by a yin-restorative session. This change of rhythm will allow us to slow down and will offer us spaces for contemplation and sharing. It will close with mantra singing around the harmonium.

Rhythm

The different practice times will be separated by moments for meals, rest, and free time, in order to also leave space to meet, exchange, or simply do nothing.
Breakfast will be offered after the Mysore session and meals will be entirely vegetarian and carefully prepared by Marjorie with fresh, organic, and local products.

THE PLACE

Located in the small village of Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, Caldera is about 40 minutes by car from Perpignan and 1h15 by bus from the train station.
The place was imagined and designed by Malika and Sergej as a space dedicated to transmission, creation, and sharing. Its very beautiful 120 m² practice room, with all the necessary equipment available, offers a setting particularly conducive to practice and immersion in the retreat.

APRIL 10-15, 2027

The field of sensations

Life, as we experience it, is a continuous flow of sensations. Most are felt physically or mentally; others are perceived on a more subtle level, noticed on the waves of the breath. Yoga offers wonderful tools to help us become aware of this field of sensations and understand how they impact our bodies and minds at every moment. By refining our attention to their shifts and constant state of evolution, we become more skilled at responding to them with greater wisdom, recognizing patterns of repetition, and cultivating a sense of preparedness to meet life as it unfolds.
Both the Iyengar style of practice and Mysore-style Ashtanga, along with Meditation practices, place great emphasis on listening to internal shifts, tuning into prana patterns in the body, and observing the constant flow of sensations and thoughts. These are all practices of deep listening and sustained focus that foster mindfulness when practiced with the right intention and adequate guidance. Some of the texts from the Yoga tradition can provide frameworks that support our understanding of this way of perceiving reality and our embodied experience.
This is why, for our 7th collaboration, we have chosen to offer a multi-faceted retreat, weaving together Mysore-style Ashtanga, Iyengar, Meditation, and Yoga philosophy. These practices follow the same thread from different perspectives: How to develop one-pointed attention embedded in a refined awareness of the broader field of sensations. We hope that the explorations of the retreat will bring insight that reaches way beyond the mat and land in deeper ways into our lives.
